- Height: Easily maintained, or 4–6 m if left unpruned
- Planting: 2 ft apart for a dense hedge
- Position: Full sun, partial shade or shade
- Soil: Moist, fertile and well-drained; tolerates most soil types
- Care: Water well during the first year and prune in late spring or summer
- Hardiness: Fully hardy in Ireland and the UK
- Safety: Leaves, seeds and berries can be harmful if eaten by people or pets
- Care
Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season. A soaker hose is ideal for delivering slow, even moisture directly to the roots. Add mulch around the plants to help retain moisture and reduce weeds. Prune in late spring or summer to maintain the desired height and shape.
